Monsoon head unit with aftermarket amps?
I have a factory 4-speaker optioned 1994 Firebird Formula. I'm wondering if it's possible to swap a Monsoon head unit in? Is the monsoon unit powered, itself? Also, are there any good, small, amps that will take a 2-ohm load that don't cost a LOT ? here's what I'm thinking
doors: driven off of monsoon amp, component polk audios
sail panels: two 6.5" Dayton midwoofers 4 ohm each
rear hatch panels: two 4" Dayton midwoofers 4 ohm each
subwoofer: single dayton 10" single 4 ohm voice coil 700w rms
I'm thinking of wiring each bank of speakers in the sail/hatch panels (driver and passenger side) in parallel to give me 2 ohm impedance. I'd just need a good amp with line-level inputs and RCA outputs for my subwoofer output...
can anyone suggest anything? I'm looking to stay with a factory head unit, no aftermarket head unit.
