General Maintenance & Repairs - weird hesitation

hey guys i have a 2000 b4c a4 it has 82,600 miles on it it has ran perfectly for me and have had no problems until recently. i was driving down the road and had to pass a truck as i accelerated the car downshifted but hesitated to speed up. the engine wasn making any misfiring noises so im thinking it may be a problem with the tranny? this is the second time this week it has done it any ideas of what it may be?

honestly im not sure i didnt do it. it was a ny state patrol car so i know they maintained the vehicle well jus dont know the last time it had it done.
