I have a set of 1998 steel exhaust manifolds from a LS1 camaro that I'm going to used.

I need to block off the egr tubes on them, but got to thinking about having the tubes cut off and welded up instead. Anyone done this?

I have a welder but my skills on something like this would def show so I thought about cutting them off and taking to a muffler shop and let them do the job of closing the holes.

Also my manifolds have some rust on them, particularly the flanges, what can I do to make these look somewhat new or better? Maybe have them hot tanked at a machine shop?

You dont have to be a pro to fill in two 1/2" holes. Turn the wick up and burn em in. The flange is thick enough it wont burn though. Grind the top flush again and youll never know it wasnt an aftermarket blockoff

The '98 manifolds are different than the newer ones, they have a tube that sticks up an inch or so with a flange on the end, but you can cut it off and weld the hole up, shouldn't be to hard to do.

Cut off the tube close to the manifold, pound in a small freeze out plug and weld it fast
