Now I feel stupid since this is the manual section lol. Forgive me for not reading all the way, but yes you can change it on jacks.

No how I did was get one of those little suction tube things that screw onto the tops of bottles. The fill hole for the tranny is basically horizontal. You have to pump the fluid in so those little pump things are life savers. If you search there are a few threads on ways to do it.

I guess a funnel could work if you had a really long tube to reach up and under the car.

Yeah sorry I don't know the technical names of things. I just basically describe what they look like and roll with it ha ha. As far as fluid goes I just used what the book said, plain old ATF dextron stuff.

Get a couple feet of clear hose and a funnel that fits into the end then stick the other end in the trans to fill it. Or fill it through the shifter if you have that out. Also are you talking about the trans on jack stands or the car? Either one is fine. Just make sure you have the drive shaft in so it doesn't run out the tail shaft.

ditto...

if you don't have the supplies, it's no more than about 15 minutes to clear everything out and fill through the shifter

4 quarts (technically 3.9 I think)....or until it just starts to come out of the fill hole with the car level. I did mine with only one side jacked up and a 1 liter squeeze bottle with a 12" hose attached to the end. Once 4 quarts were in I just let the excess dribble out into a pan and then tightened up the plug.

GM has a particular part # for their "manual" ATF fluid. Can't say that it's any different from any other red ATF. Tremec recommends the Dex III or Mobil 1 synthetic ATF as those are the only 2 they did extensive testing on. You're safe with the Dex III.
