Default 73-87 ck ls swap

I've done a little looking on my friends behalf, but have only seen a few threads. Are the any good walkthroughs for doing any ls swap (5.3,5.7,6.0) into this body style truck, retaining a 4l60? He's still on the fence about whether to retain fuel injection or going carb.

Conversion mounts get it in there

Update the fuel system using a later model truck (L31 tanks and senders work well) with some custom hoses up to the rails

Stand alone harness, either modified OEM or aftermarket

Some form of cooling fan, early LSx truck mechanical or put an electric fan on and update the wiring to control the relay(s)

Depending on the original trans type and engine mount locations, the stock DS will either be the correct length or need to be shortened

LSx truck exhaust systems fit fine, either headers or manifolds with stock Y-pipe etc

Thats the bulk of it. Trucks are super easy because common adapters plates get the engine in and a complete drop out will fit perfectly. A few mods to the stock truck harness and its ready to go. Later fuel systems are nearly 100% compatible

Thanks man. I appreciate you taking the time to spell it out for us. Seems like a good bit of the misc. parts can be found in a junkyard.
