Default Newbie help

Howdy, I put an LS1 in my 61 Impala and I am now getting around to hooking all the harness wires up. I have an after market harness. The first picture shows a little female connector, of which I have no idea what connects to it??? I have no extra wires (excpet for my o2 wires) I've attached a couple of pics. The first pic has a red arrow pointing to the unit.

What am I missing? Thanks in advance!!!!

is the 1st picture of back of the intake? looks like a map sensor

Yes, the first pic is the back of the intake. (sorry) If it is a map sensor (?) whatever that is, do I need it?

A manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP) is one of the sensors used in an internal combustion engine's electronic control system and yes you do need it

becarful not to break it, to remove it you need a map sensor socket. there should be a plug in on the harness

oh oh, me thinks me in trouble. I have no extra wire to connect to it. I ran the engine in the frame before I put the body on it, and it ran fine. The computer was tuned for my application, does that make a difference?

The first one is the oil pressure sending unit. The map is a smaller one with an angle 3 pin connector plugs into a gromet into the back of the intake.

This is a MAP sensor...


THIS is the oil pressure unit, yes it is fragile.

Excellent, thanks. The MAP sensor is connected. According to my wiring guy, I don't use the stock oil pressure sensor. That's why the engine ran with no problems without the oil sensor being connected. I have to drill and tap a hole somewhere near the oil filter to use after market gauges.

No problem. Are you going to leave the oil pressure unit in there for now? You can prolly find a pipe thread plug at a hardware store if you take it out.
