Well I was in the same boat as you. I didnt mind the LM with the Ory at first but it became too much. Like you said eaither install cats or just get a Magnaflow catback and sell your LM. I did that and installed a electric cutout too.

With the loudmouth it will always be raspy unless you add a muffler to it somehow. I had a loudmouth on my 95 lt1 and I hated it. With your setup and a hooker catback it sounded awesome.

Called a Borla-Mouth..
Put this in place of your SLP resonator. (I JUST happen to be on the page. )

I think it's hard to eliminate rasp while running an ORY/X. I'm trying to fix it right now as well. I'd like to put dual resonators in place of the cats, but I'm having a hard time finding resonators in that size. Cats will help, not quite sure if I'm ready to throw them back on quite yet. I like SOME of the rasp.

I recently purchased some high flow cats for rasp reasons and mostly because I was tired of hunting for a place to inspect the car each year.
The cats completely reduced the rasp and their flow rating only lost an estimated 3 HP on 600 horse power cars. If you decide to go this route, make sure they are the metallic metal matrix style cat and they are expensive.

Do you have True duals or single cat back. Im a little confused since u said you have a xpipe but running slp loud mouths. or do you have true duals, and running dual loud mouths?
First of all Get rid ouf your xpipe and get an h-pipe installed. It WILL mellow out the exhaust.. You may lose 1-2hp but you wont notice it at all. I love my hpipe True duals. Im running dual flowmaster 40 series along with qtp long tube headers, no cats. ABSOLUTELY NO RASP. Yay!!
In your case, just ad high flow cats, or change out the mufflers. Almost all straight through mufflers will have a little rasp. I did, with magnaflow ovals on my TDs. thats why i changed to flows. didnt loose any power on the dyno by switching mufflers.
Trust me, Ive been through 6 different TD exhaust combos. Magnaflow ovals, magnaflow bullets, moroso spirals, borla, dynomax and they all had rasp. I finally found the setup i love. dual 40 series flowmasters. i only get complimets from others when they hear my car. right balance of sound. deep and powerfull sounding, NO RASP!! Its funny at first, I actually didnt want flowmasters, since the 80 series are nothing but crap. After several hundred dollars on parts and labor I ended up with flowmasters. how ironic. lol.
