Amp/sub gurus I need some help

Amp/sub gurus I need some help Ok well here's the deal. I have a jl 13-w7 in a t-top ported enclosure now my previous audio man sold me a db drive speed series Spa-1300d amp a few months ago.
Fast forward to today, he no longer does audio any more and my new guy says that amp won't run the w7 any where but 3 ohms the old one says it'd work at .75-1ohm. Which is right and so on?
if my current amp won't work I have a line on a Orion HCCA-d2400 amp
Also any other imput will be taken into consideration
