Default Question about a GMC W4500/Isuzu NPR

Ok we got a new to us truck at work the other day, and it's a 99 GMC W4500 which is the same as a Isuzu NPR. Anyhow it has a light flashing on the dash and I was going to scan it, but I couldn't find where to plug in the scanner, can anybody help me with that?

Surely somebody drives one of these for work, or they work on them.

Should be a circle style port under the dash. What light is flashing?

It has an OBDII port on the left side under the dash, pretty close to your left foot. However, you might not be able to connect to it. We have about 15-20 NPRs/W4500s at work, and we can't connect to any of them using a Mac Mentor scan tool - ($3000), or even my $40 cheapo scan tool from autozone. I work on these everyday, so feel free to shoot me any questions.

I realize the last post was 2 weeks ago, but who knows, you still might be looking.

Thx for the info. Having similar problem communicating with ECU through ODB2 port. Scanners (like yours, both the AZ special and the $5k SO scanners both come back with connection errors. I know that these NPR are notorious for needing dealership only parts and diag.

Know this is a very old thread, but hoping you might still be getting notifications. Are there any scanners that a consumer can buy that will communicate with the NPRs (GMC W4500)?
BTW, working on an 07 5.2L diesel GMC w4500
