am i ready?
hey guys im a recently converted lt1 guy seriously looking to swap in an lq4 to my 96 impala and i think ive got the combo i want after i did some homework.
Ive looked at the polluter, MS3, trex cams but the ms4 i think would work nicely im not really looking for under the curve power cuz ill mostly race it
please tell me what you think in terms of a mostly strip/street car.
02-up lq4
4l60e (from lt1 its already mildly built)
3800 vigilante converter
4.10 in stock 8.5
ls6 intake
99 f body harness and computer
arp rod bolts
MS4 cam
tsp cam kit
massive weight reduction (500+?)

I think you need an 04 and up LQ4 because the 00 - 03 have a spacer in the flywheel which will prevent you from bolting up to the A4 Transmission, correct me if I'm wrong.

Basically if its an iron head LSx, its got the longer flange. Alum heads versions are standard short flange

The LTx 4L60E will work, but youd need the flange spacer. LSx 4L60E bolts right up with no changes. Easy way to spot is by looking at the bellhousing. Cast to the case is older style, bolt on 360* is newer
Since you are ordering a new converter you can run whatever trans you have and have the new stall snub changed to suit whichever
Add to the list Fbody pan, front accessories, exhaust system, fuel system and a custom tune

so what is the best year lq4 to have ive been waiting to grab this one im looking at for this very reason cuz its a 99 suburban engine. i would like to run the spacer i dont want the converter to be more than it has to i might go with the 4000 stall so it wont be cheap in the first place. f body front acc. drive is in my possesion got it for free along with 01 f body intake with fuel lines injectors tb coolant lines. need pacesetter LT's and oilpan anything else? maybe nice big 3.5 aluminum DS... now im just dreamin.
thanks guys
