Default "Best" place to weld cutouts

I just picked up a T/A with Pacesetter LT's, true dual H-pipe exhaust and Magnaflow Bullet mufflers. This thing is too quiet. So when i weld the cutouts in whats the best position? not by a performance standard (cause i know cutouts provide minimal gains), but more by a sound standard. would it sound better right at the headers or right after the h-pipe connection and before the bullets?

Why not throw on a X-pipe and get different mufflers?

if you just want it really loud get dual cutouts after the headers.

Yeah this is what I was wondering, but I wanted the cutouts to be near the back because that's where IMO the sound should be comming from or emmiting.

Yea the cutout on my SS was in the i pipe right under the passenger door and the drone was pretty bad. so was the rattling from WOT, thats why i figured closer to the back would be better, plus the idea of a x pipe or h pipe is to get the sound from where the two pipes converge or connect in the middle. if i weld them in by the headers that negates the purpose of a true dual system. Exhaust experts chime in on this isuue!!

the best place for them performance wise is right after the headers. any engine will make more power wide open. the crossover is just another restriction it has to overcome. eventho it helps with scavenging, a wide open exhaust doesnt need scavenging.

Im just too afraid itll be way to unnerving right below me rather than in the back before the mufflers. Will it be comparably as loud if moved back? Im not worried about horsepower gains just the ability to control noise and sound.

if your worried about noise, cutouts arent for you. the purpose of cutouts is controled noise. its not that bad right after the headers. just shitty on the highway. but thats what they made electric cutouts for.

Yea cut outs are the loudest exahust mod, the point of an x-pipe is the unique sound it provides, if u weld cutouts before the crossover you kind of cancel that sound quality out. for instance everybody knows stock mustangs are slow, but those stock x-pipes sure make em sound fast,

the "point" of an x pipe is not the sound, its the scavenging effect it provides. and im reasonably sure stock mustangs have an H-pipe. not certian tho.

regardless, the point of cutouts is to give it everything it has, and to be totally honest, when i installed my 9 inch, the mufflers wouldnt fit with the larger rear end, so i ran an open x pipe, and it sounded like total ***.

and cutouts after the x is pointless IMO, if your going to open it up, why not open it totally up?

it all comes down to preference. in the end its your car. for some reason an open x sounds like **** IMO. you can put them wherever you want, but you asked for the best place, and the best place is behind the headers.

While it may in fact scavenge, it does help the sound. And some may install one more for the sound rather then the scavenge effect.

i would personally weld e-cutouts right after the headers, i love the sound of open headers but the vibrations sometimes get annoying
