Default Engine Crank Problem

this problem has been going on for the past few weeks. when i go to crank the engine, with the clutch to the floor, the engine doesnt want to turn over and start up. i will have to stop and try to crank again and it will start right up. other times, it would take a bit to turn over and will spit and sputter and finally start while other times it starts right up. i just had my alternator rebuilt and its getting a good charge so i have no clue on what could be the problem. any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the engine runs GREAT at times between these hard starts and sputtering......you most likely need a new Crank Shaft Position sensor.

And no, you will not get an SES light or a code until it totally fails, but then you'll be stuck. They rarely ever totally fail, they just hang on and **** with you till you change it out.

Its a cheap and easy fix. If its not the problem you can take it out, clean it off and return it. Drop the starter and the sensor is right there to change it.
