LS1 in v6 overheating?
Ok...93 Camaro with an LS1 in it, 233/239 cam, ported 853 heads, stock LS1 radiator and dual fans, 160° thermostat, DexCool with a bottle of Purple Ice in it. Last time I burped the system a huge bubble came out and it seemed fine after that. No coolant leaks anywhere. Gauge is a Classic Instruments gauge in the back of the passenger side head.
Driving around town, she is fine, at about 195°/210°. The longer she's stopped at idle, the lower the temp goes on the gauge, all the way down to 175°.
On the highway, she creeps up very slowly to 230° before I get nervous and take the access roads to cool her down.
Is this normal at all for this kind of engine/gauge? I know these cars run a little cooler. Anyone have any idea what's going on? Since I'm making a little more power does the stock radiator not have enough cooling capacity anymore?
Thanks (yet again) for any help/advice!
