Default Drag racing an aluminum driveshaft opinions

I have a S10 Blazer with a 6.0 swapped in it. It weighs a whopping 3680 with driver and it runs 11.60 @ 116 MPH with a AT and 26 x 10 slicks.

I have found a ford explorer 3 1/2" driveshaft will bolt in and I would save around 9 lbs over my stock steel driveshaft. I see a lot of people have broken/twisted etc the 1LE and stock camaro shafts. However they are smaller.

Has anyone used a factory 3 1/2" driveshaft on a racing application? Just looking for opinions.

I guess I'm going to go to the wrecking yard and cut one open, have a look inside and then decide. BTW the 2wd 2 dr explorer aluminum DS looks close to the same length as a F-body.
