I am putting together a 5.3 aluminum engine with a little larger cam, victor jr. intake, msd 6010 box all in front of powerglide trans. In a mazda rx-7 drag car as a school project. Most all parts have been bought but i have had little trouble with piston to valve clearance problems so I had to buy a better timing set to help advance a little. My question is how much can i advance with my timing set and any suggestions on what is needed to adapt to a powerglide to my 5.3? This is first ls engine and first time posting questions. Any advice would be great on this project!!!!!!!!!!!

Umm... You had a PTV clearance issue so advancing the cam timing is how you fixed it?

You need to degree your Cam, and if necessary flycut your pistons.
