Default How much did you guys spend on your cam swaps?

I'm gettin the itch for a cam.... My truck has a rather aggressive cam and Im disappointed at starting my car and it not loping. lol

My plan is to do the MS3 package from texas speed, LS6 intake, LS6 valley cover/PCV, and if money allows a set of 243 heads.

I figured that roughly without the heads I'm looking at approximately 1500$, plus tune.

Does that sound about right?

Also, does that sound like a decent combo for a DD car? Right now its a full exhaust, lid, 4.11s, and full suspension car.

Here's what I spent. And yeah, that's a good deal or average. The MS3 and 4.11's will be fine for a DD, but will improve with the tune. The tune is the BIGGEST Factor with these cams. And it will save you a lot of $ on gas. I've got the Tq cam similar to the MS3 and it has great street manners. You don't need these overly HUGE MS4 cams now to get the power and the smaller cams have great street manners. Are you getting this installed, or are you doing it yourself? GET THE LARGER O-RING if you do the ported pump!! it will save you a LOT of headaches!!! GM# 12557752 My buddy and I threw parts at his car for a MONTH to figure out WTF that damn ticking was coming from and it turned out to be a $5 o-ring!

Wheel2Wheel LS6 P+P'd NEW heads off here for $600 shipped
LS6 intake off Ebay for $320
ARP head Bolts $150 ?? Forgot
ARP Cam gear bolts $8 ?? forgot
TR Oil pump $150
Cometic HG's, $160 (eek)
PatG TQ Cam $400
Patriot Dual Gold VS's $250
PR's $120
Crank bolt $12
Other Gaskets prolly $50
Dyno Tune $450 @ TSP

Holy ****.. $2670 .. I thought I only spent $1500 on that.. 0_o But I bought the LS6 intake about a year to 8 mo before I did the H/C swap. Well, add in a set of plugs too.. I forgot that. So $20 extra?

The above two posts seem to be on the money with the amount it will cost you. One piece of advice I have is do it once and do it right. Save up if you dont have enough and do the oil pump, and all the supporting stuff to. You will save ALOT more in the long run when you dont have things breaking left and right
