Default Those with X1 cam or TR230/224 in Here Please..

Just ordered my x1 cam and s2 heads from MTI and Im a little worried about valvetrain noise. Im hearing alot of people saying its BAD! Is everyones like this? Some quiet? Should I just go with the C2 cam? Ill put up with some noise, but if it really bad like some people say, then ill go with a milder cam, but I wanted to get the most power out of my package..

BTW: is it possible to NOT shift higher than 6400 or maybe in 6500 with the X1? I think it peaks at 6400

No valvetrain noise at all w/mine and I've got about 8,000 miles on it. I shift at around 6,400 when running it hard.

If you're in Houston and want to hear it or go for a spin, just let me know.

Those cams do like to peak @ 6400, this can vary slightly and as much as 200 rpm depending on cylinder head and header, also the exact cut of the cam.

Some cars are noisy in the valve train and some aren't. Being aluminum our engines do not absord noise and you can hear things that you'd never hear in an iron motor. Most of the time if you use a badass valve spring you can actually hear the valve snap closed.
My advice, take your time on the install especailly when adjusting your rockers, other than that turn up the radio alittle...

Isn't the valvetrain noise somewhat related to the springs? I have the C1 cam and stage II MTI heads w/ dual springs and there is a fair amount of valvetrain noise. Not untolerable but I guess it depends on what you expect.

I get alittle and it`s not bad. With a high lift cam your going to get alittle noise. But just in lower RPMS. It`s well worth it to run a X1 cam. Take my word for it, Sweet!

You will love the X1's power and sound, the lope is agressive, the car will shake on the inside, don't leave change in the cupholder, etc, that tends to get annoying...

When I left my door open it would rattle up and down...."yes sir its a stock cam"

My TR230 with Iskys sounds like a sewing machine. *clicka clicka clacka clicka*
It would've freaked me out if I wasn't prepared for it.
