Default Bent shift fork?

I was driving aggressively in my 98 z28 on an open highway to test out some newly installed parts. On one run, I missed third pretty hard. It made some nasty grinding noises. After that I could no longer get it into 5th. The shifter goes into the slot, but once I let the clutch out it just grinds and pops the shifter out. Sometimes I can get it into gear if I slam it into 5th and keep a lot of pressure on the shifter while letting the clutch out. I've had the same problem with reverse ever since I've owned the car, just not quite as bad. 1st through 4th go into gear just fine, along with 6th.

Does this sound like a bent shift fork? Does anybody know of any temporary tricks to get it into gear? I plan on rebuilding the trans but this is my daily driver so I still need to drive it for now.

Could be broken shift fork pads on the 5/6 fork.
