Default Transmission Fluid & Rear Axle Oil

Guys, I'll be having my long tube headers fitted to my 2001 Z28 Camaro shortly and whilst it's up in the air I'm going to ask the mechanic to change the tranny fluid and rear axle oil as I've no idea when they were last changed, if they ever have been (the car's done 48k miles now).

I'm keen to use what's best, but can't always find the products that you guys recommend because I'm in the UK. However, there is a UK distributor for Amsoil that I've used for my engine oil and filter changes (0w30) and from looking on their website I can see they stock several different gear lubes (severe & long life) as well as two or three different transmission fluids.

So. would you guys recommend Amsoil ATF and gear lubes? If so, any particular ones? Also, would I need the LSD additive?

Default

Dextron 3 for an auto tranny - it should be marked on the side of the case.

Rear gear lube change should include an slip additive - see owners manual.
