Default How do you replace the auto shifter handle?

The auto shifter in my 2000 ws6 looks terrible. The stitching in the leather is completely out, and it's seperating. How do I take the stock handle off to put a new one on? Also, anybody know of any stockish looking replacements? All of the aftermarket looking one's I've seen look terrible... I really prefer the t-style ones like stock.

Trailblazer SSs work with a mod, there is a staple in front of the shifter it prys out with a screwdriver, most sunfires, cavaliers, and other pontiacs have switchable ones too. I put a t/a shifter in my z24 lol.

So that little metal piece on the front of the shifter comes out? Then it just pulls off?

Awesome, and as for getting another ****, do I HAVE to order the adapter from afterthoughtsauto.com, or can I find another aftermarket auto shift **** to put there without it?

im pretty sure you have to have it. because of the "push botton" feature of the stock shifter. unless you bought a shifter where you can push in on it than change gears..

on mine when to lock it into park you pull up on the shifter. but if its pressed down it will slide out of park into any gear.

Why not just pick up a good used stock one? Some people will probably give you one if you pay shipping.

I've tried. Nobody seems to have a charcoal leather one.

I'm pretty sure they're all the same color from GM.
