Default 99 T/A Starting Problems

Ok I'm having a problem getting this car started. Not mine...
Its a '99 T/A
Here's the story.
My buddy ran it out of gas. He got it back to his place, but never put gas in it. The car sat for about 6 months or more.
He had it towed to someone's house with a garage and we just started on it.
He put a new battery in it, and put gas in it.
So here's the problem/diagnosis
-it turns over and sounds like its just going to fire right up but just keeps turning.
-So just to make sure it starts, we got it to fire spraying carb cleaner into the TB.
-so thinking, well its just not getting fuel, I checked the fuel pressure at the rails. 60psi....

I know that there could be SO many things wrong with it but my first thought were injectors. I just dont see how just sitting they would go bad.

Anyone have any thought on this?
Thanks in advance!

Does the car run after you are able to get it started?

When i ran out of gas, i burned up my fuel pump and had to replace it.

You might need a new fuel filter, your injectors could be dirty, it could be that your spark plugs are fouled, you might need new plug wires, or you could have bad gas.

How new are the filters, wires and plugs?
How many miles are on the engine (this might help identify issues)?

No it wont run on its own fuel. You have to keep spraying into the carb to keep it going.

Its got around 140k.
I dont know how new the filters, plugs, wires, injectors are.
He bought it about a year ago from someone.

Can you hear the fuel pump engage when you put the car into accessory mode?

These cars use fuel to keep the pump cool, running out or constantly below 1/4 tank is the best way to burn them up.

A way to test your fuel pump would be to disconnect the fuel lines going into the filter and determine if any fuel is coming from the tank.

Yea I can hear the fuel pump when I turn it on.

I'll have to check like you said. I figured check the pressure at the fuel rails would tell me if the pump was working good enough or not.

Not sure if that is a good indication because it may have residual pressure. When my fuel pump was dead, nothing came out to the filter. I hope for your friend that it is something other than the pump; that was the biggest PITA and the reason i still do not have a muffler.
