Default MGW shifter rattle fix?

I had a B&M Ripper that rattled pretty bad so since I wanted a shorter shifter, I bought an MGW to replace it. Needless to say, it rattles pretty bad also. I know it's just where the ball jumps around in the cup so does anyone have ideas on how to get rid of the rattle? I think maybe I could wrap the ball in rubber heat tape to keep the noise down? Whatcha think?

Have you considered replacing the cup? You can go back with another plastic one or upgrade it to a bronze one. Wrapping it in tape isn't a good idea. It might be a quick and easy short term fix, but the tape will wear down and come apart over time and get in your transmission.

The bronze one doesn't help rattle, a new plastic one would be best to quiet it up.
