Default LT1 Head Question Iron Verses Aluminum

I have a general question about the iron heads verses the Aluminum. I have heard that the Iron heads outflow the aluminum? Is there any truth to this and would it be worth going iron over aluminum? Just wondering and wanting to find out if this is true.

True, they flow marginally better. But the negligible performance gains from the additional flow alone are far outweighed by the added weight. This is why you don't see guys converting to iron heads on their LT1s.

I have meant to self port a set of iron heads for my wagon mostly because I have a few pair laying around, but for performance use they have a few PITA things working against them.

If heavily ported they have been known to crack, they have pressed studs, guides need machining for spring and retainer clearance. They do weight something like 40-45lbs more for the pair as well, I weighed them once but forget the exact number.
