Default Please explain this DTC!!

my Z threw a code today. i scanned it on autotap and got code P0135. its listed as O2 sensor heater circuit malfunction, bank 1, sensor 1. can someone explain this heater circuit thing to me? if i swap out the sensor for a new one will that take of the problem or is the malfunction somewhere else?

also...the code came up on the list twice. i cleared it and the SES light has been off for about 40 miles now. any input??? should i replace the sensor?

O2 sensors need to be hot to function accurately.. The heater circuit was added to 02 sensors so that the PCM could go into closed loop sooner.. The heat of the exhaust takes longer then the heater circuit..
The heater circuit also allows the 02's to be further down the exhaust stream.. same reason.

You can swap them and see if it moves to the other bank..

I had the same problem with my o2 sensor heaters, and the only thing that worked for me was to turn off the mil light. It isnt going to hurt the performance of your car, atleast it hasnt hurt mine. I even bought new sensors and it was a fix for a few days....
