Default Thursday Nite TNT @Dunn-Benson

My son & I took our 2000 NHRA Formula over to Dunn-Benson thursday night.
We had just put on a set of MT et street 255/50R16. The quickest run was a 9.62 @73 mph. Ran a total of five runs, I drove twice and felt like it hooked but would start spinning and do so until changing into 2nd (A4 Trans). A couple people mentioned to my son it dead hooked when it left. Needless to say we were both very disappointed. Has 3.23 gear, totally stock engine, no headers, only change from stock are the tires. Where do we go from here?

Stall is the biggest help, but exhaust will help some and sound better too. Suspension work will always help too.

My motor is totally stock, just a few bolt-ons, stall. Best time so far in Florida heat is in sig.

So you said it felt like it hooked but then would spin? Not following you here... But ppl who were watching said it dead hooked. Maybe your trans is slipping?

I'm w Jay-P..something is not right...that time is very slow especially on ET Streets. Check the tranny then go for a few mods..get it tuned and try again

I agree that time is way off for a stock set-up, even with good tires.
You should be in the 8.5-8.8 range. Power is way down.
Do a complete check up on the car (plugs, wires, filters, etc). Check out the tune (get it on a dyno and maybe that will expose the weak spot), find out if the transmission is slipping, etc.

something is very wrong. 73 mph is at least 10 mph off from where it should be. I know this might sound like a dumb question but are you trying to shift the car manually? If you are then stop doing that and let the car shift itself. Put it in 3rd and leave it there. If you are doing it this way already then disregard that question and get the car checked out.

Went back to Dunn-Benson Thursday nite (16th), best run 9.6726 @ 73.61 mph. Air pressure from 25lbs. down to 15lbs. I watched tach. and speedometer on two passes and tach was hitting limiter and bouncing, speedometer was floating up and down as if spinning on ice, car spining until it would change into second. By this time on past 330 ( best 330 6.3068) and not much track left. We had the front sway bar disconnected for these runs hoping for some weight transfer. What adjustments can I make to rear susp. to help?, completely stock suspension.
