Default Is the '99 4L60E any good?

I'm about to fire up my 3rd V8 RX7. This one with the tranny above. My question is... can it handle much more than stock? I'm planning on going heads / cam on this motor. Anything I should look for, or do first?

The progrmming in the PCM was not as aggressive as it was for the 98's.

Heads/cam? Always use a cooler and by all means compliment that heads/cam set up with a nice TQ-converter.

Do not manualy shift the tranny... do not "get on it" in OD and change the fluid often. You should be fine....for a while.

I put 110,000 miles thru my 99' 4L60E Tranny Varing from 100-150 shot from 50,000 miles to about 90,000 then MTI Stg 2 heads and X1 cam till 110,000 miles before a semi decided to back over it. DONE EVER MANUALLY SHIFT IT...PUT IT IN "D" AND GO....

The light weight of your car will help tranny life.

If you do have it rebuilt in the future, go with a vacuum pressure modulator.

99's didn't have much, to any issues with torque management, so your fine there.
