Raw fuel smell with air on
I'm trying to track down the source; with A/C or vent on, I get a very strong raw fuel smell coming in. I'm checking:
1) FPR/ vacuum line to intake for a leak (better not- new Aeromotive FPR!)
2) EGR blockoff plates for looseness from vibration (RTV'd 'em during install)
3) Quick connect fuel line fittings (**these things supposed to have o-rings between the line and the barb on the fuel rail?**)
4) Injectors themselves for any major seepage
PLEASE suggest anything else I'm not thinking of- thanks!

I hear alot of people complaining about that gas smell. I know for a fact that it gets stronger when you cut the cats off, but I really think its because the engine sit so far back in the F-Bodys that you can smell everything thats going on under the hood...

I do smell it in the engine bay, always. And I can usually detect it standing at the driver's door. Not overwhelming, but present.
I do have true duals with 100cell/in cats located under the front seats. I ran briefly without them and I smelled like I'd been cutting the grass after every drive. I had a small exhaust leak at the pass. side header and it made everybody's eyes burn. That was a burned fuel smell, though. It disappeared when I fixed the leak and put the cats on a week later.
That sounds like a real possibility. I'll have another look, but I'm pretty sure the solenoid area is tight. If you pull off the line to the cannister, should you be able to blow through it easily? I didn't delete the evap nor did I disable its codes in the PCM tune.

The only time anyone ever complained about a gas smell was when I had that T56 93, someone capped off the emissions on the manifolds and it leaked fumes like all get out.

Sometimes when I unscrew my gas cap I hear a hissing sound. Is that a sign of a bad EVAP system also?

After I gutted my cat, the fuel smell was bad enough to make my wife complain about the smell. I have put a high flow cat back on and fuel smell is gone.

Just had a chance to go out and diagnose it... Aeromotive 13107 FPR is pissing like a racehorse.
I've heard 2 people on this forum saying they knew guys who lost a car to fire like this and would NEVER use an Aeromotive FPR. Now I'm inclined to agree with them. Unless some of us are installing them wrong or not performing some sort of perfunctory maintenance that they need to keep from pissing all over the place.

That also explains the horrendous gas mileage on this tank of gas. You really wouldn't believe the amount that was pouring out at KOEO. Pressure dropped to 0 in about 6-7 seconds.

Done, no more leaks. Starts right up where as before it took 3-4 seconds of cranking. Throttle response is remarkably better. idles a lot better, even with A/C on. This is how it's supposed to run. It's been a story of perfect, then something breaks. Well, I guess I'm running out of things, knock on wood. The culprit- pressure adjustment method = total failure. Just put some paste or teflon tape on the threads- that'll work, yeah. Why not put a groove at the end of the plug with an o-ring for frack's sake? (sorry for the crappy phone pics)
