Default Dissect My Timeslips

First of all, hello, long time reader/browser and apologies for this to be my first post.

Anyways, wondering if ya'll could give me some insight on the track passes I made friday night.

My bro and I ran his '02 Camaro SS with the following mods(according to prev. owner, only had car about 3-4months)...

6.0 LQ9 w/317 Heads
Longtube Headers
3" Y Pipe, Dynomax Bullet Dumped
LS6 Intake
SLP Lid
SLP mass air
Shaner S3 Throttle Body
3.73's

We did 3 passes in the car, first run was a 13.0x @ 109.x with a 2.0x 60'ft

second run was a 13.1 @ 107 w/1.9 60'ft, guessing it went slower cause of the weight diff. between my bro and I, 5'10 170lbs to 6'2 220.

final run showed a 13.0x @ 108 w/1.9 60'ft with him driving, but car was a bit hot-lapped.

Car was on 17x9.5 Chrome ZR1's w/bald Nitto DR's.

Now, according to prev.owner car has a basic tune on it(I doubt it but maybe) but was never re-tuned for the 3.73's. My bro and I noticed that the car would hit the rev limiter on the 1-2, 2-3 shift...is that because of the ECU thinking the car has stock gears?

Weather was in the ~80* range with 70% humidity. All in all, how do the ET's look for whats done to the car?

Any help is appreciated,
Roy

yes, stock automatic. 60ft's I figured were "decent" for a stock stalled auto, but def. needs improvement.

Yes. Stock stall. Just wanted to get some insight if the times were "ok" for what car has, I figured with a 1.9 60'ft it would've atleast cracked a 12.9, as the prev. owner claimed a 12.50 @ 110 but there was no way of confirming it.

Another question and I'm sure I'll get the "search" reply but does it help to run the car without an air filter? I've seen some locals do that.

This is my bro's and I first stab at the f-body/lsx platform (I have a Mustang, eeekk, blasphemy, lol)

I'm thinking the car has some sort of tune cause the tranny shifts very firm/hard @ WOT, prev.owner claimed a tune but just never retuned it for the gears.

I appreciate the replies so far.

Thanks.

The 12.50 at 110 mph seems a little far fetched unless it was done with a perfect hook in great air. The stock converter is what is holding the car back, but you likely need to have the tune looked at.

The key with racing is to eliminate the variables so you can make laps knowing the only things that will change/alter your turnout is hook, air quality and driving.

That said, not bad for first time. 50 lbs should not equal a 2 mph drop in trap speed, so likely something else slowed the car on that run.

Try leaving the shifter in 4th instead of 3rd to possibly eliminate the rev limiter issue. I had the same problem and found a member on here that suggested leaving in OD. Haven't hit the chip in years since. There is a thread on auto gear selection in the drag racing tech section.

Good luck and have fun!

I have gone 12.61 w/ a stock converter w/a 1.91 60ft so it might have done what he said.

Thanks for the tips, greatly appreciated.

Yes, we want to get the car in the 12's as is, but I'm sure we need to have the tune checked out aswell as some new drag radials for a much better hook.

Here is a vid of one of his 13.0 passes, goes against a buddies 2011 5.0...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUvyTKFTtLo

Noticing aswell that the pass.rear tire during a burnout will stop spinning for a bit then goes back to spin, posi going out?

Here are the detailed timeslips,

8:49pm

60'ft : 2.039
330 : 5.608
1/8 : 8.484 @ 86.05
1/4 : 13.014 @ 109.68

Run 2, 9:31pm

60'ft : 1.961
330: 5.615
1/8 : 8.537 @ 84.04
1/4 : 13.143 @ 107.95

Final Run(vid) 10:43pm

60'ft : 1.953
330 : 5.577
1/8 ; 8.482 @ 84.77
1/4 ; 13.064 @ 108.56
