Header bolt fiasco
A few months back I had a mishap with a broken header bolt while doing my headers. Long story short..I had to have a shop get the bolt out. When I went to pick the car up I saw they didnt reuse the stock manifold gaskets and they used high temp calk on the gaskets they did use which totally turned me off. But anyway...Just noticed the bolts they used look like steel bolts in the aluminum block which I dont really like. Then...I decided to put the torque wrench on them and they are over 18 ftlbs. I called them and they said they used the air ratched which is probly about 20ftlbs. Not really happy about this. Also they welded y pipe merge to catback pipe and its the most rediculous weld ever. It leaks.
Im debating on doing my exhaust all over again with stainless and tds instead of pacsetters and tsp ory.
Thoughts on the ftlbs torque and steel bolts in aluminum anyone?
