Default ASA LS1 won't run once car at operating temp

Ok heres the deal - I am road racing one of the ex-ASA touring cars that has the Lingenfelter prepped LS1. The car uses the standard GM type ECM. The car runs fine until it reaches around 180 degrees at which point it begins cutting out and smoking like a freight train. If I let the car sit for 2-hours and fire it up all is good again. Anyone else encountered this?

Yes, I have had three different tunes on two different ECU's - two done by Schwanke and one done by LG. LG actually had it on there dyno and the numbers looked good, but once on the track a different story.

They don't go to closed loop.

So does it do it with all three boxes? If so, it is something in the car.

Are you turning the fans on at that time? Maybe your alternator is getting weak and with the extra load it is going to low voltage wich would make it run wierd?

Is your fuel pressure steady? How about oil pressure?

i would agree do some data logging to help you troubleshoot or at least monitor what is going on

In response to Schwanke - no matter which box I install it is the same result. If the car sits and cools down I can restart it and it runs fine. Oil pressure and fuel pressure are good. I hadn't thought about the voltage but the car always starts right up even when its running bad.

you didn't say what color smoke??

But I have seen engines with blown head gasket that doesn't start leaking into the cylinders until the engine is up to full temp when the thermostat opens up.

Just a thought.
