Default 5.3 cam help dragcar

I have a 2003 5.3 low mileage that i got out of the junkyard, 845 heads. This is going to be a lsx swap into a 1965 chevelle drag car only. It weights 3150 with me in it, 32 inch tire, 5.38 gears, and 5000 stall with transbrake. For the engine i have 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped lts. Victor jr intake w/750-850 carb(undecided) and msd box to run the coilpacks. I plan on upgrading the valve train to suit the cam and if i have to flycut the pistons. I also plan on upgrading the rod bolts. The cam doesnt have to have any manners, as it is a track only car. The compression is stock at 9.4? I am current researching what i can mill them to, to get the compression up. What do you suggest. Thanks

Just my opinion ,,but if I were you I would sale that 5.3 and buy a LQ4.
One reason is the 2000 threw early 2007 5.3 heads have smaller valves. If you had a 2600lb car then I would say go for it,,but you don't.

You can get LQ4 short blocks for $500 dallors thats including shipping. Then refreshen the shortblock. Then get a set of used 243 heads for $350 and have them milled and if it were a drag strip only engine I would want the compression atleast 12.0.Then pick out the cam of your choice along with push rods,springs,LS7 lifters.

By the time you spend the money on those 5.3 heads you could have a LQ4 put together like I stated for just alittle more money and go alot faster.

Or I would just build a GEN1 SBC ,,,,,,I had a SBC 350 30over 13.1 compression with GM 882 iron heads with 2.02 intake valves and ran a 10.83 at 129mph in the 1/4 mile with a 3,000lb 91 firebird.
