Hey yall! I was just wanting your opinions on whether any of you use octane booster in your cars and which ones and why? If not, why not?

read the can, when it says it will raise Octane 1 point, it does NOT change 93 Octane to 94, what it will do is raise it to (approx) 93.1 Octane. Unless you are knocking at 93 and not at 93.1 it is a waste of money.

There's really no reason for it unless you've got an extremely aggressive tune...in which case you should just buy higher octane.

NOS energy drink is the best booster.

But seriously, it's a waste.

If you really need an octane boost, head down to Home Depot and pick up a gallon of either Toluene or Xylene. They are something like 115 octane, so a gallon mixed into a full tank will net you a 1.5 increase in octane. Around here either are $10/gal.

I believe it to have a placebo effect more than actual on near stock cars or cars that don't have tunes of any kind.

There's something to that, especially in a N/A engine. I never had any issues using 91 in the GXP, even with more agressive timing. But I hear that the oxygenated gasoline you have in Cali is ****.

Would this be safe for a untuned and stock internal motor?

Yes - Some people are not quite so sure about using Xylene, but toluene is already in pump gas anyway. (You might want to read the MSDS before splashing either of these around.) Neither of these have any significant effect on the stoichiometric AFR.

I don't think the LS4 actually needs anything higher than 91 octane unless boost is involved, in which case I'd probably prefer meth injection over gasoline additives anyway. You can also use meth with a n/a engine... a 50/50 mix of meth and water could still give you 2.0 increase in octane. Depending on the meth controller, you only use it under load anyway, so a gallon of methanol would last through several tanks of gas. You do need to tune for meth though.

Unless you're running higher compression or you're knocking now, you don't need it.

Ok, kinda along the same topic, when you guys go to the track, or street race, whatever, do you run racing fuel (Turbo blue, Sunoco, etc) ?? AND do you see any difference??
