So after all the trouble i went through to calculate pushrod length, today while i was installing the springs on the 243's i noticed that the heads have a pretty bad scratch in them, i dont know how it happened, point is its connecting the two combustion chambers in the middle, it doesent look too deep but its still there, so i need to mill the heads

my questions are: how far can I mill the heads? How much should i mill them by? will I have piston to valve clearance issues, the cam im installing is 226/229 .575 .578 on a 114 LSA.

You need to have them milled enough to get rid of the gouges,then check for PTV clearance.If you dont have enough,rent the tools to flycut.My son has a set that he rents out.Just let me know and ill hook you up.

that is a safe cam from patriot .tell the machine shop to mill them a little bit at a time till the scratches disappear.

look at it like this, first the heads have to be cleaned up. Then I would go from there and not guess on anything. Worst case is you have to fly cut the pistons for ptv clearances. get it right and don't cut corners on anything.

it is what it is and it has to be fixed or replaced, period.
