Ever heard of the "iron block ls1" that's what you have there. It can safely be bored out to the ls1 bore and you can throw in an ls1 crank. I'm not sure if you can o with a longer throw but its been asked on here a million times just search it

I bored a 5.3 out to the ls1 bore which puts the block at it's limit. All you need is the ls1 pistons, the rods and crank are the same in both engines. Fwiw, the 5.3, 5.7, & 6.0 all use the same cranks and rods with different bores. The 4.8 is the black sheep that uses a smaller crank which could make for some hi-rpm winding if that's what you're into.
