Default LSX 454 controller question.

Is there a stock GM controller people typically use with the LSX454?

I thought they were supposed to release one specific for that engine, but I have not seen it. So what are people using? LS7?

I would think Speartech or Current Performance would be able to make a kit for that.

depends whats it going in? 24x or 58x I would use the msd box. especially if you are one of those folks that think you need to rawk a carb still. Or megasquirt 3 which is cheaper then buying the tuning software for anything else

Thanks for the replies.

But there should be a GM controller with a factory calibration that should work, especially if you're running 58x, injection, etc. I think the MSD box is if you're running a carb.

When they came out with the engine, they said there was going to be a GM performance controller you could buy for it. An LS7 would probably get you pretty close. But it's weird that they haven't offered it yet.

Nobody running an LSX454 with a GM controller? That's surprising.

GMPP did say they were going to make one but they have yet to release the "fuel injected" version of the LSX454. I'm not sure if they will to be honest. The way the engine sits now, it can be taylored to fuel injection or carb. If GM does release it my guess would be that it will show up at the next SEMA show. Pretty much any LS1,2,3,7 harness can be made to work with the engine to be honest. Also, pretty much any LS computer from those mentioned can be programmed and tuned to work with the engine also. It really comes down to which computer you want to run. The LS1 24x computer is cheaper to acquire and there is really no benefit to running a 58x computer unless you want to use one of the new 6l80/90 transmissions. Lingenfelter also sells a converter box that allows the use of 58x engines onto 24x computers. There are lots of choices, it's a great time to be hot rodding. Hope this helps.

It does help - thanks.

I'm a big fan of a factory calibration, and that's one of the big selling points of the LSX 454...so hopefully they finish up that controller and release it. If not, I guess you're right - the other controllers (and esp. the LS7) will probably get you close.
