PS pump causing V loss @ WOT?
Quick question: When I spin the power steering pulley by hand with the belt off, should it feel real tight or rotate kinda freely?
Can't spin mine with a finger or two, have to hold it and use like 5 lbs of torque to spin the pump pulley (autozone=2yrs old) and I can't remember how easily it spun new.
Explanation:
I think my PS ate my belt and killed my alternator:
a while back I started losing Voltage at WOT, got so bad gradually that I couldn't go above 2k rpms without lights dimming...
I changed the belt, alternator, wires, trickle charged my red-top and now it doesnt drop till about 4.5k rpms. I'm thinking the PS is so tight it can't keep up and is slowing down the rest of the accessories. I think I see belt dust around the PS pulley, but can't tell cause my engine is pretty dirty right now.
Thanks
Kyle
