extreme high oil pressure
1999 LS1 Vette. I had my oil pan replaced 2 weeks ago due to running over a large rock and putting a nice hole in it. Killed the motor with 30 psi still on the gauge. After replacing the pan my pressures ran between 30 psi idling and 50 psi at speed. Pretty standard pressures. I’ve been monitoring the pressure obsessively due to utilizing a two piece factory oil pan for a replacement. This morning when I started the car the pressure ran to 90 psi with an air temperature of ~60°F. Ran the car ¼ mile down the road and saw 120 psi max. Parked the car immediately. Started it tonight and saw 127 psi idling. WTF. Anybody ever seen something like this? Do I dare drive it to a shop to have the actual pressure tested at the filter as described in the shop manual? I really don’t believe the reading since it changed so suddenly but I really don’t want to push my luck without a little input. No unusual noises. Any ideas?

You guys are leaning the same way I am. I think there is a problem with the sender. The analog gauge pins at 100 psi but the digital readout flies further. With a motor on the line though is there anything that I could damage with high pressure by driving it?
