Default l92 swap to a 68 Camaro ?

My buddy is wanting to swap a L92 Escalade engine in his 68 Camaro and keep his muncie 4 speed . I've heard bad things on the L92 VVT and intake . Would he be better with a LS3 of LS2 ? Any help would be greatly appreciated .

The truck intake can be swapped for a car intake: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...-manifold.html

The VVT limits your cam options, but it has performance advantages that are worth investigating. I am not going to push my opinion here (pro VVT), but I will say because of how new the VVT option is for LSXs, you will have to do some research and make your own decision. No one can definitively say at this point that VVT is better or worse than non-VVT because there are tradeoffs and it depends on your goals for the engine.

Personally I wouldn't pass up an L92 for the reasons you mentioned.

He wants to get 550 hp or so . Would it be easier to get it from a LS3 or L92 ? I have heard that tuning an L92 with VVT is a pain in the butt. He hasn't bought the L92 yet so that's not an issue .

they have the same heads, same displacement, so if you buy an ls3 intake and delete the vvt by putting a cam in it in the end don't you have the same engine with a few minor differences? (I think so)

I've been looking for brackets that will move the alt and a/c compressor so it will fit . Does anyone know of a source ?
