Default Budget Build

This is the setup I'm looking to build when I get home from Iraq. I would like to hear some thoughts. This is a daily driver. 01 Z28 A4

-230/230 .612 .592 112 LSA +2 custom grind cam
-Comp 918 springs 7.425 hardened pushrods
-Pacesetter LTs w/ Texas Speed Y and cat back
-LS2 timing chain
-Ported LS6 oil pump
-Yank Super Stock 3200
-3.23 or 3.46 gear set
-Trans cooler

Heads to come later on. What do y'all think?

I would use a good dual spring for longer life. 7.425 will prolly be ok but measuring is recommended. A 7.4 may be better.

If you have to do a gear swap do 3.42's but I wouldn't put any more $$ in a 10 bolt than I had to...

Step it up to a SS3600 and add a Transgo shiftkit.

+1 on not spending too much money on the 10bolt.

Just curious, but why Pacesetters? Is it the price? I am thinking about getting the TSP 1 7/8 Long tubes when I get home from iraq.

I think your list looks pretty good other than that.

Sry its off topic but thanks for the service guys. Appreciate the hard work so we can raise hell over here. Both the plans look good btw but agreed with the dual springs and measuring.
Thanks again

Yeah, guess I should measure or just go with the 7.4s. I had heard of aftermarket cams being narrower than stock.

Pacesetters for the price. I think they'll be good enough for stock cubes.

Think I'm gonna go .592/.592. Should I still get dual springs?

I'll go with the ss3600. If I don't put any money in the 10 bolt untill I upgrade, how will this setup run on stock 2.73s? Gonna check the code when I get home to make sure I don't have 3.23s. Pretty sure it's the former though.

Thanks for the troop support.

I'd probably roll with the PAC 1518s myself. Good to .650, little more of a safety margin. If the money is running tight, just get the stock LS6 pump and put that difference towards the better valve springs.

+2 for the 3600 stall.

I have a 3200 stall on my GEN I and its great, but it doesn't have as high of a powerband as our GEN IIIs.

Setup looks good man. Definitely go with a stouter spring than the 918. A PAC 1518 would be fine or the PRC .650" duals would be fine. Also, check the pushrod length to make sure it is correct. No one can tell you with 100% certainty what you need to run. There's a lot of variance in each setup. Measure and make sure it is right the first time!

I know it's not optimal, but will it be driveable with stock 2.73s and an ss3600 with the 230/230 cam? I don't want to put money into the 10 bolt but it will be a while before I can upgrade the entire rear. Or should I go ahead and add a gearset? I will have a trans cooler.
