Talking Just another newbie

So, yeah... I'm new. I have a '78 Chevy stepside: TH-400, 12-bolt, 3.55 posi. Not bad for a first car. I'm thinking about swapping an LS engine into it. Anyone have any suggestions? I have narrowed it down to either the 5.3 or the 6.0. I am a college student (Major: computer science), so my total budget for an engine can't be a penny over $2,000. Is the extra cubes and horsepower worth the extra money I would spend on a 6.0 or should I buy a 5.3 and then modify it with the money I will save? Any help with this would really help me out!

Thank you,

Chase
