knocking and rough idle now with colder temps Topic pretty much says it all, now that it's getting in the 30's around here the engine will knock until it gets warm, and it will idle rough until it gets warm as well. I know the lifters are known to go bad on these engines, what could be causing the idle issue?

I just had some bad fuel that caused a rough idle cold and tossed a misfire code up. Lots of water in fuel this time of year plus ethanol fuel tends to have water in it. Might be your trouble.

what kind of oil are you useing! i am useing royal purple 20/50 raceing oil in my ls1 and it will knock like hell when it first starts up! but it will stop and go quite. what kind os viscosity of oil are you useing! 5w30/10w/40,and so on. i ran 10w40 mobil full synthetic in mine for 62000 miles and never had a problem, i have just started useing the royal purple because i have nearly 40000 miles on my mods!
