86 Iroc z high idle question

86 Iroc z high idle question not sure if i can post this here but anyway i have a 86 iroc that seems to have a high idle, when its sitting its right around 1200rpm & when u put it in gear it slams in assuming its cuz of the idle & then its 1000 rpms in gear. to me it sounds like a IAC thats bad but wanted a second opinon. thanks in advance

spray brake cleaner all over the intake manifold and throttle body, you most likely have a leak somewhere allowing more air into the engine causing the idle to raise. once you find it just plug the leak or replace gaskets. It could be the iac valve, best way to check is pull it out while its plugged in and start the car, you should be able to watch it move, if it extends its trying to close off the air, meaning its still good.
