opinions on scorpion roller rockers

I've seen too many issues with them in the past to recommend them to any of my customers! If you're going with an aftermarket roller rocker (without spending a fortune) I would recommend the YellaTerra Ultralites!

I've seen a handful of YT's break, but not anywhere near the number of Scorpions I saw broken!

Check with Pittman on here, he lost an LS6 because of cheaping out and using the Scorpions. Either go with the Yella Terra Ultralites or get the trunion upgrade from Harland Sharp.

I would be careful about saying that. If you did more research on the yella terra stuff, you would see more recent breakages than scorpion. I know from experience on both breakages. Scorpion did redesign the rocker arms yes, and they now offer them for the L92 heads as well.
When Crane went under they hired a bunch of their techs and service guys that helped Scorpion revamp their rocker arm line and also start working on supplying springs, valves, and now their B/A 2000 CFM TB!
Call and talk to some of the guys there in FLA including Ross. He was who I used to talk to and is a good guy and can answer any question you have. Any of them can.
As of the past year, I have not seen any Scorp breakages on tech, but a few more yella terra ones. Being the first that did it, Scorp got a really bad rep. But I have used them on quite a few engines, and sold even more that ran on them because I believe in them.
I believe in both companies, but I have only installed 1 set of yella terra and 4 or 5 sets of the Scorp. Sometimes it is better to support domestic companies. Esp in this recession.
And for anyone thinking that you are "cheaping out" by buying Scorpion over Yella Terra, I would ask you to double check the retail prices of both. The price diff is normally about $30 if that.

I should edit my post above, but ill put that I did some more research myself and there was a set that broke I can see in July. But Ross at scorpion is taking care of them. The problem with alot of companies that you purchase them from have had them sitting on the shelf from the first set of breakage threads out there. So they may or may not be the new design. I am not sure when that OP purchased them although the engine was fairly new and what year the rockers were made. Or if they were used.
I would caution anyone buying them to ask when the rocker arms were made and double check any date that may be on the box. Then contact scorpion to see if they can be swapped out. They are backed by a lifetime guarantee, so I am sure they can do something to give you peace of mind from the get go.

I really starting to think there is no reason to go after market other than the trunion upgrade on the stockers. Unless you go with the big dollar, shaft mount deal like Jesel and that would be on the extreme end of builds. Kudos to GM for producing a reliable design in stock form. (less needle bearings)

Don't waste your time and money. I broke a rocker that was suppose to be the new design. I ended up swapping out rocker arms at 1 am in 35 deg weather!! Do the trunion upgrade or spend a little more money for ultra lites.
