How streetable is a 408 stroker???
I have a built 408 stroker. callies crank, rods. etc etc..... cam is 641/621 lift. duration at 50 is like 254/262. lobe seperation is 113 and intake center is 110. motor made 500 rwhp. how streetable is the engine? this is my first one so just didnt wanna over drive it if the cam and stuff was too big. any input will be appreciated. thanks.

seems a little radical for alot of street use, but if you don't abuse the motor its possible for the occaisional sunday drive. with that radical of a cam though I wouldnt drive it on long trips though just for your valvetrains sake.

If you pick the right cam, a 408 is a great street motor. My cam is .621/.624 lift with a duration of 235/243 on a 111 lsa. Drives great on the street and has a powerband of 2500-6500 rpms. Perfect for the street. The torque makes it way more fun on the street over a stock displacement motor.

The engine itself won't have a problem at all. We have customers well over 50,000 miles on 408c.i. motors driving them every day. The cam can be driven no problem. With the right setup and good tuning, I can't see it being too bad with that many cubes. However, I know what to expect from a big cam. Obviously, it won't drive like stock but I assume if you are putting a 408c.i. engine in your car with that much cam, you have an idea of what to expect. If it's any help, I daily drove my car a few years ago with a 408c.i. motor with a 257/266 cam. Could even drive it 100+miles home to see the family on the weekend! I wouldn't say it drove like a stock car but I've always been one to give up some driveability to make some more power!
