Heads and cam at 100k
Hello ive been saving up for a few years now and just bought my self a 1999 ws6. I took it to the shop dropped it of and told them to freshen up the car. they replaced a few things nothing to big. The only problem is it has 112k miles on it. I was hoping to drop a Ms3 cam and a set of prc 5.3l heads on it. Has anyone else done this on a car with this many miles? whats everyones opnion?

But... back to your original question, i think you should be fine, if the motor blows up shortly after, it was probably gonna go soon anyways, provided you install things properly.
On the bright side, if you do invest in it, and something does go wrong, you can still reuse your parts in the new engine. Id say go for it.
Get the new oil pump, ls2 timing chain, etc and you'll be fine.

I put the el-torro cam in my car at 88k and also installed katech rod bolts. Cylinder walls still had the cross-hatches in them and the inside of the motor was very clean. Its all about how the car has been maintained and making sure you put the right parts on to hold up to what you want to do. Choosing the right set up is key also. My car beat a guy with a MS4 and more mods.

Ms3 and a 228 are so far apart lol,I have a ms4 in my 99 and has 120k ,they way I see it when something goes its bound to happen, also with as cheap as the lq4s,lq9 blocks are going for if something fails at least you know there are great cheap options out there to upgrade to,this spring though I plan to check some things out just to make sure it will get threw the summer with out issues, sucks having the car down in nice weather, the ms3 is a good cam but its really what your goal is for the car, maybe look into the eps cams,Pat G knows his stuff, and they make some great power out of the smaller cams, big cams are good for the track but that's about it,

My 2- suggestions would be to do new oil pump and new rod bolts, either ARP or Katechs if you can afford them. I will be doing this soon to my 96k firehawk as well. Most of the problems you hear with people spinning rod bearings are due to stretched rod bolts and/or over revving the motor. Keep your shift points at a reasonable RPM and dont over do your rev limiter too much. I owned a 2006 TBSS with 85000 miles and prolly had over 300 passes at the track mostly on nitrous and following the tips described above never had an issue. These motors are pretty strong, but any insurance you can give them is just added security.
