Default AMP question

i have a 95 trans am with 10 speaker system....i replaced the head unit and changed the speakers to new ones......The system now sound like the volume is cut in half and has no power...
now i am assuming the system doesn't have enough power to drive new speakers.

now in order to install an new amp do i have to bypass the old one or can i add a amp afterward. because i know its pita to get at the amp in this model?

basically i have a AVIC 700bt with RCA jacks

-do i wire the speakers to the amp then using RCA go to DECK?
or
- wire in new amp using same wiring to head unit (Just replace it)

SORRY FOR MY ignorance

On most aftermarket speakers they wont work with the stock amp from the head unit. you have to run the rca cables from the new amp to the stock head unit then hook the speakers up. You will probably need a hi/low adapter to hook it up to the stock head unit.
