Can't believe the transmission was still working
So I finally got around to dropping the transmission pan and this is what I found....... The tranny was working fine until it heats up, then it would slip between shift and throw me against the rev limiter...HARD!!! Sigh. Time for that new tranny(4l60e)

No codes thrown. The car shifts fine until it warms up completely. I only live a mile from the job so its been fine to and from work. It shift through 4th but never locks the converter. I put some lucas in it about 6 months ago, it's made it this far.

I took your advice. I put the car in the air, ran the engine for about 15 minutes with a catch pan under the open transmission and let the car empty out any left over tranny fluid. Spent 60 bucks on some fresh fluid, filter, and a bottle of lucas and went for a ride. The car shifts like nothing was ever wrong with it. I drove it back and forth to work for a week and then took it to YelloBelly Drag strip. The car performed flawlessly, shifting out at 6700. I made six passes on street tires just to see if the tranny would take a crap. The only problem I have is when the car is first started in the morning the converter makes a shudder noise for about 2 minutes then it goes away. I know that I am running on borrowed time but hey.......Its working out so far. I just ordered some 265/40/18 ET Streets, gonna keep pressing my luck.
