Default Change timing chain?

So i cracked my stock 853 head and im replacing it with some 241s. The car has 150K miles on it and ive only had it for 6K miles so i don't know if the timing chain has ever been replaced. Should i go ahead and change it while im down in there? and just use a LS1 chain or is the LS2 chain a direct replacement? Also any other little things that i should look into changing while inside the bay? Not looking for anything to add power just some preventive maintenance.

I would, I believe you can use a LS2 but its not a direct replacment, you'll need a few parts...just run a new LS1 piece.

150k.. thats getting up there? How did you crack the heads? If it were me, I would rebuild the whole engine...

I honestly don't know how they cracked. Car ran fine, went out of town for the weekend came back and it wouldnt start. Cylinder 2 was full of antifreeze so the heads went to a machine shop and they said the head was cracked.

you can get a new ls2 timing chain and the gasket and bolt from TSP,consider a cam swap while you are at it.go to ls1howto.com for instruction and photos.
