Default Monsoon confusion

I have a 2002 Camaro Monsoon HU that I am looking to install in a C4 Corvette. I do not have the Monsoon amp or speakers. (I realize this HU doesn't have great sound but I like the stock look and I only need it to sound "okay" to make me happy.)

My questions are:
If I'm looking to install 4 speakers, 2-door, 2-hatch, what are the speaker ratings I am looking for? 2-ohm door 4-ohm hatch?

Do I need an amp? ( I have read that some people by-pass it?)

I am going to run all new speaker wire, what type/size would be best?

I'm sorry for my ignorance, I have never installed/purchased any car audio equipment before, and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Thanks,
J

you do not need an amp to make this work. Look for 4 ohm speakers. 6x9 in back and 5.25 or 6.5 in front for your c4. Some cheep pioneers should work good. 16 ga will be plenty for speaker wire

I have been running Infinity Reference lately and they do fine for the price. Pioneer would be good also.
