Default just bought T/A

So i just bought a 1999 trans am ws6 convertible. i got a good deal on the car because it had a knock in the motor. so i am going to rebuild the motor, now i know the motor has had work done to it but i havent torn into it yet but i do know these few things about the car it has... a level five RPM 4l60e with trans break and 3600 stall triple plate precision industries torque converter , line lock, edlebrock adjustable torque arm, and i know the motor has a cam( not sure what size yet) ,42lb fuel injectors, and headers. So my question is what are things i should look for that go bad, go wrong, and things people commonly screw up or this i should do when rebuilding.
So please lend your advise
thanks

Congrats man,

Besides the knock, I'd check to make sure the transmission shifts properly and doesn't slip. No abnormal grinding, etc. From there, I'd probably move to the rear and check the condition of the gears.

Than perhaps suspension.

Thanks, the unfortunate thing is that i cannot test the trans til i get the engine rebuilt and driving but i dropped the pan and no big metal shavings in the trans. the ring and pinion looks good too.

That pretty much covers it. . . .

Do a full tear down and see what is damaged. Drop it in and see how the tranny does.
